Kenny Silverman began playing piano at age seven in Jersey City, New Jersey. He studied composition and orchestration at Queens College in New York City. In 1972 he made his professional playing debut at the Clam Broth House in Hoboken, New Jersey and went on to perform throughout the New York area.

In 1979 he moved to San Francisco where he presided as house pianist at the Pelican Inn in Muir Beach for five years. He performed at the Fairmont Hotel and Sausalito's No Name Bar, Houlihan's Old Place, Flynn's Landing and the Sausalito Hotel.

Kenny made Eugene his home in 1985. He has performed at most area venues including the Oregon Bach Festival, Valley River Inn, Eugene Hilton, and the Hult Center. He has taught music in the Oregon and Washington public schools and continues to teach privately to students of all ages.

Kenny has worked as a professional composer, arranger and music director since 1979.He has composed music for student and professional use including three children's ecological operas, Save the Earth! (1993), The Lorax, by Dr. Seuss (1993) and Watershed (1996). He is currently working on a musical adaptation of An Enemy of the People, by Henrik Ibsen.

Kenny's bounding enthusiasm and high-spirited energy can liven up any event! His charismatic personality makes him an ideal entertainer, alone or in an ensemble setting. Bands of any size are available-just call Kenny!

Kenny doubles on guitar and string bass. He'll sing your favorite songs and have you singing along before you know it! His repertoire is immense, spanning 400 years of music!

Slyce

April 28, 1991 - March 12, 2008

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Slyce, KSU's first President, general greeter and one great cat. Many of you got to know Slyce during your studies here at KenState. He was usually waiting at the door to greet you. He had a long, prosperous life and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

KSU Fall Term 2008: Private lessons at "KenStateU" commence Monday, September 29, 2008. I teach piano, voice, guitar,string bass, beginning winds & percussion and songwriting & composition. I enjoy my private students immensely and still have some time available for new students! For more information on private teaching please peruse the "Teaching" page from the directory above.

Piano Tunings are now available! With the help of Reyburn Cyber Tuner and my Apple laptop I am doing private tunings in the Eugene/Springfield area. Fees range from $80 to $160.

I continue to work on my musical adaptation of "An Enemy Of The People ", by Henrik Ibsen. The musical is coming together very well and should be enjoyable and thought provoking for all !
